The College of Science at the University of Basrah organized a specialized panel discussion entitled “Treatment of organic pollutants using nanomaterials as photocatalysts,” presented by Marwa Jawad Kazem, a lecturer in the Department of Physics, as part of the faculty's scientific activities.
The panel discussion aimed to review future solutions for treating organic pollutants in water, as they are a major source of water pollution and pose serious health risks to living organisms due to their high toxicity. The discussions addressed the importance of removing these pollutants and the growing interest of researchers in this field.
The role of heterogeneous photocatalysis based on nanomaterials was also highlighted as one of the most prominent modern technologies for treating pollution. In addition to discussing the mechanism of photo-stimulation activity of organic dyes and the factors affecting the efficiency of the photo-stimulation process, this research contributes to the development of sustainable scientific applications for water pollution treatment.
