The Physics Department at the College of Science, University of Basrah, organized a scientific trip for its students to the central laboratories of the Basrah Oil Company.

As part of its efforts to promote practical learning and link theoretical knowledge with field applications, the Physics Department at the Faculty of Science at the University of Basra organized a scientific trip for its students to the central laboratories at Basra Oil Company, accompanied by several faculty members.

During the visit, students learned about a range of specialized laboratory tests directly related to their field of physics, where they were introduced to the mechanisms of work within modern oil laboratories and the nature of the devices used in physical measurements approved in the oil industry.

The scientific trip included a practical explanation of methods for measuring pressure and viscosity and their importance in characterizing the physical properties of petroleum fluids, as well as an overview of how to measure API gravity and its role in determining the quality of crude oil and evaluating its properties.

Students also had the opportunity to ask questions and discuss scientific and practical aspects with specialized staff, which contributed to broadening their scientific knowledge and enhancing their understanding of the role of physics in vital industrial sectors, particularly the oil and gas sector. This scientific trip comes within the framework of the department and faculty's keenness to develop students' practical skills and introduce them to their future work environment, thereby contributing to their scientific and professional preparation for the job market.
