In its ongoing efforts to solidify its scientific standing and foster a research and innovation environment, the Department of Life Sciences at the College of Science, University of Basrah, is pleased to announce the Third International Conference on Applied Life Sciences (ICAB 2026), to be held on September 16–17, 2026, under the theme:
“New Horizons in Applied Life Sciences: Towards Smart and Sustainable Solutions.”
The conference is held under the patronage of the President of the University of Basrah, Professor Dr. Muhannad Jawad Al-Asadi, and under the supervision of the Dean of the College of Science, Professor Dr. Ali Abdul-Imam Al-Riyahi, and the Head of the Department of Life Sciences, Professor Dr. Inam Mahmoud Najm Al-Rubaie. It will serve as an international scientific platform bringing together researchers, academics, and experts from various universities and research institutions within and outside Iraq, with the aim of exchanging expertise, presenting the latest scientific findings, strengthening research partnerships, and exploring innovative scientific solutions to address health and environmental challenges.
The conference will also serve as a platform for other stakeholders to discuss these topics. The conference includes five main scientific themes:
Microbiology and Immunology.
Genetics, Biotechnology, and Genetic Engineering.
Botany.
Zoology.
Ecology.
The conference also provides researchers with the opportunity to publish their scientific research in reputable scientific journals, including those indexed in the Scopus database (Q4), as well as other scientific journals. This contributes to enhancing the quality of scientific output and expanding the horizons of academic collaboration.
The Department of Life Sciences invites all researchers, faculty members, and graduate students to actively participate in this international scientific forum and contribute to enriching its scientific sessions in a way that serves the advancement of scientific research and strengthens the role of applied life sciences in serving society and achieving sustainable development.
