The Department of geoscience at the college of science at the University of Basra held a scientific workshop in the Directorate of environment of Basrah governorate on the occasion of the World Day of geological diversity approved by UNESCO on October 6 of each year, on Thursday 8/10/2026 and in the lecture hall of the said Directorate, the lecturer in the Department of geoscience, assistant professor Dr. Bassem Hamid Sultan, addressed the concept of geological diversity and geological reserves and their importance to humans and civilized societies, and the need to preserve it from tampering and the southern region of Iraq and the heads and members of the Department
