College of Science Hosts Seminar on Heavy Metals and Their Impact on

The Department of Ecology at the College of Science, University of Basrah, organized a seminar on the distribution of heavy metals in marsh waters and their effects on living organisms.
Presented by postgraduate student Bahaa Abdul-Hussein Abdul-Amir, the seminar aimed to assess heavy metal concentrations and their distribution within the marshes, while correlating these findings with environmental characteristics and their impact on biota.
The session addressed key physicochemical factors influencing the forms of heavy metals in the aquatic environment, the application of water and sediment pollution indices to determine contamination levels in the marshes, and the use of advanced statistical analysis to identify pollution sources.
